Expressing concerns about the integrity of the judiciary, Prabowo spoke about the dangers of a weak judicial system. He highlighted the frustrations of law enforcement agencies, from the police to the military, who work tirelessly to apprehend corrupt officials only to see them escape punishment in court. To address this issue, Prabowo instructed ministers, especially the Minister of Finance, to immediately find funds to increase judges’ salaries. He even expressed willingness to reallocate budget from other institutions, including the military and police, if necessary, to maintain the independence and integrity of the judiciary.
Prabowo was shocked to learn that judges have not received a salary increase in 18 years despite handling cases worth trillions of rupiah. With a firm commitment, Prabowo officially announced a salary hike for judges, with the highest increase reaching 280%, especially benefiting lower-level judges. He promised to personally monitor the implementation of these salary increases. This is a bold step to ensure justice within Indonesia’s judicial system.
